Floral trinity
Oana wanted to tell a story through the only tattoo she will ever have.
to be a continuous reminder to have confidence in herself and make the most out of the unpredictable. The tattoo symbolizes self-acceptance and self-love.
Oana believes in the philosophy of the trinity of life: the past, the present, and the future.
“In order to fully understand your past and present self, you need to look to the future.”
After many years in the Netherlands, she was finally able to embrace her cultural heritage and appreciate it for what it has given her.
But what is the meaning of identity? Identity is what defines you as a person, it is what makes you who you are and helps you connect with the world and others around you. It has many definitions, depending on whom you ask, but in the end, it all comes down to one thing: the realization that you are unique in your own way.
The tattoo design is made of three tulip flowers which represent three essential elements of one’s life: the past, the present, and the future.
Nina’s inspiration was the embroidery of the traditional Romanian flower, the carnations of Caranii. she placed this embroidery flower in tiles behind the tulips to symbolize Oana’s background and recolored it with the Delft blue colors to bring both cultures together in one design.
Oana’s only tattoo represents her journey and evolution as an individual. It’s a constant reminder of who she is and where she came from.
She shared a beautiful part of her story with us we and we hope it will inspire you to grow and embrace your cultural heritage as well.
