Hygiene & Safety at Tattoo Hysteria

At Tattoo Hysteria, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety, as required by the GGD and RIVM in the Netherlands.
Below is an overview of the procedures we follow to ensure a clean, sterile, and professional environment for every client.

1. Client Consent and Health Information

Before your tattoo session begins, we require all clients to sign a consent form. This can be done either on paper or through our online system.
If the client signs a paper form, they can request a copy or just simply take a photo by phone of the signed form.
If the client opts for the digital version, an automatic copy will be sent to their email.

We also ask that you inform your tattoo artist if you have any of the following conditions:

  • Known allergies (including latex)
  • Diabetes
  • Hemophilia or clotting disorders
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Skin conditions
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Compromised immune systems
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Scar tissue or keloids
2. Hand Hygiene

Our artists strictly follow hand hygiene protocols:

  • Hands are thoroughly washed and sanitized before each session and after any contact with body fluids.
  • Gloves are put on before starting and changed regularly during the session.
  • After removing gloves, hands are washed or disinfected.

The gloves worn by tattooists are disposable nitrile gloves that comply with the EN 455 series and EN 374 series.

The hand disinfectants we use comply with EN 1500 standards and meet European product regulations.

3. Single-Use Equipment

We prioritize your safety by using only single-use, sterile equipment. includes needles, grips, and ink cups. All equipment is disposed of after each session, in line with RIVM standards. For added safety, barrier covers are used on all equipment and surfaces that may come into contact with the tattooing area.

4. Inks and Pigments

All tattoo inks used at Tattoo Hysteria are REACH-approved and comply with EU and RIVM standards. Our inks are:

  • Properly labeled with their intended use as tattoo ink
  • Traceable via unique batch identification numbers
  • Clearly marked with the manufacturer’s information, expiration date, and a list of ingredients
  • Guaranteed sterile

We source our inks from trusted local suppliers who meet all necessary safety and compliance requirements.

5. Workstation Sterilization

Before and after each tattoo session, the workstation is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. This includes:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting the workspace at the start of the day and between clients.
  • Using waterproof coverings on disinfected surfaces to maintain sterility.
  • Using sterile ink cups, ensure the ink bottle never touches the cups while pouring the ink.
  • Daily sterilization of rinse bottles with a steam sterilizer to prevent biofilm formation.
  • All tattoo machines and associated equipment, such as power units and cables, are cleaned and disinfected before each use.
  • Disposable covers are used for each client, and all equipment is sanitized after every session to maintain the highest level of cleanliness
6. Aftercare Products

After the tattoo session, our artist will cover your fresh tattoo with a sterile, dermatologist-tested protection film product to ensure proper healing.

The tattoo artist will provide verbal aftercare instructions immediately after your session.
The client can ask our studio manager to send them more comprehensive written aftercare instructions via email.

7. Record-keeping

At Tattoo Hysteria, we maintain a record of the inks and needles used during each tattoo session. This information is stored in our system for safety and traceability purposes. If a client wishes to know which products were used in their tattoo, they can request this information from the artist after the session. We are committed to transparency and ensuring that every client feels informed and confident in the materials and procedures used.

One last note:

For hygiene reasons, we have a no-shoe policy at Tattoo Hysteria. We kindly ask clients to bring their own slippers when visiting the studio to help maintain our clean and sterile environment.
