Hygiene & Safety at Tattoo Hysteria
At Tattoo Hysteria, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety, as required by the GGD and RIVM in the Netherlands.
Below is an overview of the procedures we follow to ensure a clean, sterile, and professional environment for every client.
1. Client Consent and Health Information
Before your tattoo session begins, we require all clients to sign a consent form. This can be done either on paper or through our online system.
If the client signs a paper form, they can request a copy or just simply take a photo by phone of the signed form.
If the client opts for the digital version, an automatic copy will be sent to their email.
We also ask that you inform your tattoo artist if you have any of the following conditions:
- Known allergies (including latex)
- Diabetes
- Hemophilia or clotting disorders
- Sarcoidosis
- Skin conditions
- Autoimmune disorders
- Compromised immune systems
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Scar tissue or keloids
2. Hand Hygiene
Our artists strictly follow hand hygiene protocols:
- Hands are thoroughly washed and sanitized before each session and after any contact with body fluids.
- Gloves are put on before starting and changed regularly during the session.
- After removing gloves, hands are washed or disinfected.
The gloves worn by tattooists are disposable nitrile gloves that comply with the EN 455 series and EN 374 series.
The hand disinfectants we use comply with EN 1500 standards and meet European product regulations.
3. Single-Use Equipment
We prioritize your safety by using only single-use, sterile equipment. includes needles, grips, and ink cups. All equipment is disposed of after each session, in line with RIVM standards. For added safety, barrier covers are used on all equipment and surfaces that may come into contact with the tattooing area.
4. Workstation Sterilization
Before and after each tattoo session, the workstation is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. This includes:
- Cleaning and disinfecting the workspace at the start of the day and between clients.
- Using waterproof coverings on disinfected surfaces to maintain sterility.
- Using sterile ink cups, ensure the ink bottle never touches the cups while pouring the ink.
- Daily sterilization of rinse bottles with a steam sterilizer to prevent biofilm formation.
- All tattoo machines and associated equipment, such as power units and cables, are cleaned and disinfected before each use.
- Disposable covers are used for each client, and all equipment is sanitized after every session to maintain the highest level of cleanliness
5. Aftercare Products
After the tattoo session, our artist will cover your fresh tattoo with a sterile, dermatologist-tested protection film product to ensure proper healing.
The tattoo artist will provide aftercare instructions immediately after your session.
The client may ask the studio manager to send them a written aftercare instructions via email.
One last note:
For hygiene reasons, we have a no-shoe policy at Tattoo Hysteria. We kindly ask clients to bring their own slippers when visiting the studio to help maintain our clean and sterile environment.
